Nonsuch Studios is celebrating Home Rangers 10th Birthday!

Can you believe it? Home Rangers, our very own creative drama sessions designed especially for home-educated young people, is turning TEN! That’s a whole decade of building confidence, drama games, new shows and performances, parades, pantos, dragon eggs and a whole lot of brilliant imagination!

Since 2015, Home Rangers has been Nottingham’s go-to place for home-educated young people to dive headfirst into creativity, make friends, and grow in confidence, all in a safe, playful environment. Led by our fabulously talented facilitators, each session is an adventure. Young people get to explore all sorts of theatrical fun, from telling stories through mime and puppetry to experimenting with acting to camera and creating immersive characters. Every week, they try something new, have a laugh, and leave buzzing with inspiration (and occasionally a bit of glitter).

What makes Home Rangers truly special is the way it balances child-led imagination with skill-building. Participants are encouraged to lead the way with their ideas while learning essential theatre skills along the journey. Drama, movement, puppetry, mask work, ensemble games; all of it helps build confidence, teamwork, and creativity. And because every session is designed to be inclusive and supportive, each young person feels safe to express themselves, take risks, and shine in their own unique way.

Rebecca Allen, Theatre Practitioner and Home Rangers Facilitator, says:

"Working with the home-educated community delivering Home Rangers for the past three years has been a joy. Watching participants explore their creativity and imagination is a wonderful experience, which I am honoured to be a part of. I can see them developing their skills and growing in confidence week by week whilst having fun within the sessions. It is lovely to see their individual personalities shine whilst also working together as a team."

Caroline Rowland, Nonsuch Studios Community Engagement Producer, says:

I am continually blown away by the creativity and imagination of our Homerangers’ young people and all of the amazing characters and stories that they create in our weekly sessions. Rebecca and Hermione work together to create a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment where young people are truly encouraged and celebrated to be themselves, to bring their brilliant ideas forward, where they work together to make them come to life on stage!
