Love singing along to show tunes or musical favourites? Fancy being a part of something new and exciting? Join us to make a Meadows Musical together!

Whether you have always lived in the Meadows, have recently moved or want to feel more connected to your local community this project is for you!

We’re bringing people together to share stories, spend time, and create a joyful musical inspired by everyday life in the Meadows and what makes the area feel like home. The sessions will focus on creating a safe, curious environment where we will explore what home, neighbourhood and community mean to everyone taking part.

Across the project, you will:

  • Meet new people in the Meadows and the surrounding areas
  • Learn from a professional Musical Theatre Director
  • Be part of something fun, exciting and new!
  • Learn, sing and rewrite well-known musical songs
  • Take part and help make a new Meadows Musical Medley
  • Share memories and explore stories from the Meadows
  • Work with Musical Theatre Director Ben Johnston, with songwriting support from Exchange CIC

Session Details:

  • Wednesdays, 1:15–3:15pm
  • Starting from 25 February - 2 May 2026
  • AMC Gardens, Kirkby Gardens, Nottingham NG2 2HZ
  • Adults 18+
  • Free to attend (tea and coffee available, small contribution if possible)

Where will it lead?

What we make together will be shared at the Meadows May Day celebrations on 2nd May 2026, alongside the Nottingham Community Choir, bringing local stories and songs together to celebrate the people and Meadows!

About Stage the City

The Meadows Musical Medley Sessions are part of ‘Stage the City’; an exciting new two-year project in Nottingham by Nonsuch Studios. Thanks to a £150,000 Esmée Fairbairn grant, we're bringing a range of workshops to Bulwell, Sneinton, and The Meadows. Participants of all ages will craft and unleash new performances, sharing their unique stories and experiences from Nottingham. This project connects across communities and generations, culminating in a spectacular outdoor theatre event in Nottingham City Centre in 2027. Get ready for a surge of local creativity and stronger communities!
