Tom Cansdale

Thomas Cansdale is a creative producer, scenographer-artist and academic currently based in Lincoln. They work to connect and support artists and organisations across the East Midlands through a multi-disciplinary and collaboration-based approach.

Tom has worked across the country supporting artists and delivering arts events to the public, through organisations such as UK New Artists, Lincoln Arts Centre, Different Light Collective, Threshold Studios, TYA Creative and Frequency Festival. Additionally, Tom is the co-director for The MashUp, a artist-led grassroots organisation that supports artists in Lincoln and the wider county.

They have an academic interest in the emancipatory potential of scenography, presenting research at the Prague Quadrennial for Performance Design and Space 23. Furthermore, they have been able to teach extra-curricular at Primary, Secondary and HE, drawing from their background in theatre and performance.

Whether it be through organising day events, multi-day arts festivals, long term artist development programmes, or tearing up the dancefloor at your local punk gig, Tom is passionate about supporting and innovating the creative ecology in the East Midlands.
