Sneinton Light Adventure: Young Performers Take to the Stage!

The talented young people from our Sneinton Theatre Making Club are ready to present Sneinton Light Adventure at Nottingham Light Night 2026; a special outdoor theatre performance created as part of Nonsuch Studios Stage the City Programme.

This February, something magical is coming to Broad Street, Nottingham! The talented young people from our Sneinton Theatre Making Club are ready to present Sneinton Light Adventure, a special outdoor theatre performance created as part of our Stage the City project.

Since November, a group of 8–13 year olds have been meeting every Wednesday at the Greenway Centre, guided by the brilliant Theatre Director Laura Ryder. These after-school sessions have been full of storytelling, movement, games, and creative play. Whether it’s acting out characters, experimenting with movement, or collaborating on new ideas, the young people have been discovering the joy of bringing stories to life, all while making new friends and sharing laughs along the way.

For Nottingham Light Night in February 2026, the group has transformed their ideas, energy, and stories into a magical outdoor theatre experience. The Story of the Sneinton Light Adventure follows the brave explorers as they adventure through a mystical reimagining of Sneinton, exploring the Haunted Woods, the magic windmill and the lair of a legendary dragon!

Expect playful and imaginative storytelling and creative surprises as the young people light up Broad Street with their unique interpretation of Sneinton life. It’s a celebration of the creativity and the incredible talents of these young performers as every member of the club has helped shape the performance, making it truly by the young people.

''It has been brilliant to work with the young performers on Stage the City. Their incredible creativity and energy have come together to create a really excellent, imaginative performance. They have been full of ideas and it has been so great to see their teamwork and confidence grow.'' Laura Ryder, Associate Director of the Stage the City Programme & Director of the Sneinton Light Adventure

The Sneinton Light Adventure takes place on Saturday 7th February, with performances at 5:00pm and 5:30pm on Broad Street, Nottingham. Bring your family, friends, and neighbours to see the creativity, fun, and energy of these amazing young people, and cheer them on as they take to the city stage!

The Theatre Making Club is part of Stage the City; an exciting new two-year project in Nottingham led by Nonsuch Studios.
